How Bowen Went From $0 To $3,208 / Month Building Affiliate Website

If you are an avid reader of IM event studies, then you've definitely heard of Perrin's website, Herepup, which he offered to get a bit over $200,000.
He created this website in 2015 and was able to build it up over 2 years to generate $8,280 in the previous month of owning it.
But what happened since then? If he's sold it?
Many individuals build an authority site in the hopes of selling off it to get a massive payday. After allyou can get between 20 -- 30 x the monthly earnings for your site. Herepup was sold for over $200K and that is nothing to sneeze at!
But... if you knew you could almost double the current earnings of your website, in just a handful of months. . Can you be so fast to sell? Or, how much more could you have gotten from the purchase?
After obtaining Herepup, we increased earnings from its baseline of $6,988 per month to $14,677 after only 4 months.
Therefore, given the new monthly revenue x 25, Perrin could have gotten $366,925 by promoting it.
However, this website does not use any PBNs or alternative blackhat backlinking strategies, therefore it could have sold for a greater variable (x 30), which means he could have gotten up to $440,310!

Just how Do We Do This?
CRO?
Some new search engine optimization technique no one has heard about (yet)?
Magic?
Nope! All we did was concentrate on building more quality backlinks, making more articles and switched to a higher paying affiliate program.
All of these are things you've heard about prior to -- and likely overlook. In NoHatDigital, we make use of Pareto's principle -- focus on the 20% which drives 80% of the results.
However, the 1 thing we did differently, was execute the above strategies, at scale. We didn't only get 5 hyperlinks and called it a day, or set up a handful of new articles. We actually went to function.
Therefore, lets take a closer look.

Content

Perrin initially focused on producing keyword targeted articles for Herepup and we chose to continue his strategy.
However, as mentioned previously, we did so at scale.
So, in month #2 of possessing the site, we published 34 new articles, in month #3, we published 74 new posts and in month 4, we published 76 new posts.
Each article that was posted was 1,000 words.
Once the new articles were posted on the site, they started ranking within a week or two. This occurred because the site was established and rank well for the majority of its key phrases.

Building Backlinks

The next thing we did was construct high quality, white hat backlinks. We opted to make infographics and then market them to other pet blogs/sites. Infographics lend themselves quite well to the pet niche, which has been a part of the achievement of this strategy.
In month #2 of owning the website, we made 4 infographics, in month #3, two infographics and in month #4, 1 infographic.
After we generated each infographicwe did a significant quantity of outreach. This essentially means finding relevant sites and requesting them to post our infographic in their website (with a link back to ours).
Within the four months, we emailed 63,988 websites!
Every site that responded, we created a exceptional introduction to go along with the Infographic to avoid any duplicate content issues.
So, what exactly were our results?
54 links.

This might not look overtly impressive, however, those hyperlinks packed a punch. The majority of them had a domain name of over 18 and you had a DA of 33.

The Results From More Content & Links

In total, we generated 184 new posts and obtained 54 new links over the first four months of owning Herepup. The outcomes?
The brand new content alone made $1,006.33 in three months. This content was only published on the website and didn't have enough time to age or get higher rankings. So, the revenue in the new content will increase over the forthcoming months.
Shifting MonetizationAs you can tell, even though adding a significant quantity of content and links from the previous 4 months, led to adding $1,0006.33 to our earnings, it was not the immediate reason for decreasing the site's revenue.
What truly moved the needle, was shifting from Amazon to Chewy.
We were able to negotiate a higher payout from Chewy which led to doubling our revenue. Obviously, we did not fully remove Amazon, but added Chewy products.
We were unsure about the movement and believed it would diminish our overall clicks since more people understand and trust Amazon, but that was an unfounded anxiety.
As you can see in the chart below, the amount of clicks to affiliate applications dropped very slightly once some Amazon links were removed and Chewy was added in Month #2.
However, though the clicks to affiliate products were marginally lower, revenue soared!
In the fourth month, Chewy affiliate goods accounted for over $9000 of their entire earnings and the remaining $5000 came from Amazon along with Media.net advertising.
As a result of the above mentioned changes, the average visitor value rose from $0.062 to $0.114 in four months --a 1.8 x increase.
You may be asking yourself -- did the traffic grow significantly? Surely, that should be the source of such an astronomic growth in revenue. But, it didn't. Here are the traffic stats:
Note that the monitoring did not work for a couple of days in November, causing the visitors to show as 0.
  • Pre-sale month -- 156,133
  • Pre-sale month -- 153,596
  • Month #1 -- 135,234
  • Month #2 -- 141,313
  • Month #3 -- 163,455
  • Month #4 -- 148,038
Note that month #3 was December, thus a slight increase in traffic was due to the usual Christmas rush.
Closing Ideas In 4 months of owning Herepup, we managed to double the baseline revenue from $6,988 to $14,677, increase the customer worth from $0.062 to $0.114 as well as raise the earnings per page.
So, can you do the same to your website? This case study proves it.
All you need to concentrate on is identifying higher paying affiliate programs inside your niche as well as scaling your content and link building campaigns.
If you have a significant quantity of traffic, do not be afraid to negotiate for higher commissions -- if you don't ask for a raise, the answer will always be no.
What if you can't find a higher paying affiliate program for your site? Then, it's well worth it to create your own item.
If you've got the information that shows precisely what people wish to purchase, then you'd be bonkers to not make use of it! Bear in Mind, fortune favors the bold
